Research Management Training

The Importance of Research Management Training

In order for the CAPREx project to be able to achieve its overall aim of capacity-building and sustainable excellence in research at African partner universities (Makerere University and the University of Ghana, Legon) there is a need to also focus on strengthening research management and administration at these universities. Therefore, in addition to supporting academic research fellowships, CAPREx also enables four research personnel to visit Cambridge each year, to undergo training in research management and administration processes and procedures.

The training (in Cambridge and in Africa) is designed and conducted by staff at the University of Cambridge’s Research Operations Office. Their considerable contribution is a key strength and important dimension of CAPREx, and directly benefits all partners. The key contact person for CAPREx-related research management training at this office is Ms Debbie West-Lewis.
